John Cifelli is a corporate and transactional attorney with a background in intellectual property, corporate counseling, and business dispute resolution. Prior to joining Fonss & Estigarribia LLP as an associate, John focused his practice on advising early-stage companies and technology businesses on patent, trademark, intellectual property diligence, and related corporate matters. John counseled founders and growing companies on patent prosecution, freedom-to-operate opinions, trademark protection, intellectual property strategy, and the legal considerations that arise as businesses develop, protect, and commercialize technology assets.

John currently assists clients with corporate governance, entity formation and maintenance, contractual matters, business transactions, and general corporate counseling. His technical and intellectual property background allows him to bring a practical, business-focused perspective to companies navigating commercial agreements, ownership issues, brand protection, technology-related transactions, and legal risk during periods of growth.

John is known for providing clear, efficient, and business-oriented legal guidance. He works with clients to understand their objectives, identify legal and operational risks, and develop practical solutions that support long-term business planning.

John earned his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law, and earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis in Bioengineering from San Diego State University.
